Winchester Property Search
The city of Winchester is an excellent place to live; steeped in history, filled with beautiful properties, and extremely well-connected. Winchester has an abundance of medieval architecture including Winchester Cathedral, one of the largest cathedrals in Europe.
Winchester’s city centre is a web of winding streets with shops set in medieval buildings. At the top of town, an Everyman Cinema has recently opened in a converted church and there is a regular farmers market.
Trains run regularly from Winchester to London Waterloo, with at least two fast trains an hour, and the journey takes just under an hour; many residents commute to the capital daily.
In the city centre, you can find stunning 18th Century townhouses bursting with character. Larger detached houses within walking distance of the city centre, such as those in the St Cross area, are extremely sought after.
Both public and private schooling in the area are excellent. Local private schools include Princes Mead School, Twyford School, The Pilgrim’s School, Winchester College, and St. Swithun’s.
Outside of Winchester, there are many desirable villages, such as those in the Itchen Valley – Itchen Abbas, Easton, Avington, and Ovington – which offer excellent communities, good local pubs, and easy access to the amenities of Winchester. Also popular are the villages of Twyford and Owslebury to the south and Crawley and Sparsholt to the west.
