James Rawes
Regional Partner
With a career in residential property spanning over 30 years, James has seen most of what the market has had to offer. Starting out in agency in Berkshire and Surrey in the late ’80s, he moved up to central London in the mid ’90s, selling flats and houses in St John’s Wood and Notting Hill. This prepared him for a long stint in South Kensington and Chelsea, working for two of the premier agents in the area. Then, in 2003, James was offered the opportunity to run the Block Management arm of a Chelsea agency. For 3 years, this demanding but ultimately rewarding role taught him more about property and leases than he had learnt in the previous 15 years. Although this added a number of strings to his bow, ultimately the pull of the market was too hard to ignore. When the chance to work for one of the most highly regarded Buying Agents came up, in what was at the time, a young industry, James grabbed the opportunity.
In 2006, James joined Garrington and has never looked back. The firm’s dedicated and forensic approach to property search is ideally suited to his methodical and professional standards. With the extensive experience he is able to bring to the role, Garrington’s clients can be assured of access to a deep and varied knowledge base. Indeed, during the 13 years that James has been a Property Advisor, his clients’ searches have taken him from the Prime Central areas of London to the up and coming postcodes south of the Thames, the trendy districts east of the City, to the media hangouts of north west London and to the popular family areas of the west and south-west.
James lives in south-west London close to Richmond with his wife and three children. He has done so for 20 years and is always going on about how lucky he is to be able to walk, run or cycle in the 2000 acres of Richmond Park while being a short distance from the capital’s attractions.
He can be found zipping about on his moped, often the first to respond to an agent’s nod about a new home to the market, previewing, analysing and informing his clients about their next property purchase.
