Brockenhurst is a main hub in the New Forest with frequent trains running to London in around an hour and a half. A large village, Brockenhurst has a well-regarded primary school and tertiary college, Brockenhurst College, as well as many shops on Brookley Road, the Village High Street, and many places to eat locally.

Nearby Lymington is a Georgian market town offering a comprehensive range of shops and restaurants. There is a weekly market along the high street which is popular with residents and visitors.

Lymington is known for its large marina and yacht clubs such as The Royal Lymington and Lymington Town Sailing Club. Ferry services from Lymington connect to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight.
