Property Finder Guildford
The county town of Surrey, Guildford is one of the most popular search locations for our Surrey property finders. Little wonder when you consider the short commute from Guildford train station to London Waterloo in just over 30 minutes, the abundance of excellent schools both state and independent and the spacious, elegant properties on offer.
Where other towns and cities in the area experienced extensive remodelling, with older properties knocked down to make way for newer ones, this did not take place and Guildford is filled with large period homes.
This said, Guildford is in parts quite modern, the cathedral, which dominates the city’s skyline, was only built at the beginning of the Sixties and the nearby University of Surrey was built not long afterwards.
Buying in Epsom
Epsom is a large town in the north of Surrey known for the Epsom Downs, home of the famous horse race. The town has a theatre, a cinema and restaurants and if you’re looking for a wider choice for shopping, Kingston is only a short drive away.
Trains from Epsom station take 45 minutes to London Victoria and 40 minutes to London Waterloo making it another popular spot with commuters. With the M25 nearby those living in Epsom also benefit from easy to reach Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
There is a wide range of property types and styles in Epsom ranging from lovely large period houses and small Victorian artisans’ cottages to modern town centre flats.
Moving to Woking
When considering the best commuter towns in Surrey Woking is a strong contender, boasting one of Surrey’s fastest train links into London Waterloo, once you’re on the train it takes under 30 minutes.
Perhaps overshadowed by the better-known city of Guildford nearby, Woking offers a marginally shorter commute and in many cases more affordable housing.
Woking has homes from almost every era and the building of new properties continues to this day as the town’s popularity continues to grow.
Best villages to live in Surrey
Away from the bustling Surrey towns, there are many villages that are better suited to those who prefer a slower pace of life and a more rural setting – these are considered some of the best villages to live in Surrey.
